Paws up for the Cat Cafe in Petone!!
Want to sip a latte with a kitty or stretch into the downward dog with feline assistance? The Neko Ngeru Cat Adoption Cafe is the perfect place to go for cat lovers in need of caffeine and a cat fix. The cafe opened November 2017 and since then has seen a steady stream of people come through its doors. The cat cafe is popular with families, couples and singles. People are invited to spend time with the kitties, watch them playfully interact or snooze, or just enjoy the company of the cats in a lovely environment.
The cafe regularly offers a 45-minute yoga session plus 30 minutes of cat cuddles and the cafe also hosts quiz nights, cat assisted massage and kitty bingo.
Owners Ken and Richelle are passionate about cats and have future plans to develop a learning programme for school age children . It will be aimed to teach children how to communicate with kitties and increase children’s empathy and respect for our furry friends.
Purr-fect furever homes
Cafe owner Richelle lights up when she retells some of the cat adoption success stories. One such lucky cat was Sharon who came from the Upper Hutt Animal Rescue. Over months of gentle coaxing, socialising and love Sharon learnt to trust in humans again. She is now second mate and lives on a boat with her owner and best human friend. Sharon has now found the fur-ever home she deserves.
