Holiday care for your dog with Share My Pet
Share My Pet love helping people in our local communities connect with each other via the love of pets. Pet sharing dates can result in regular hangouts with a furry friend . Options of arranging holiday care for your dog is a great option too. More so, we adore hearing about successful pet sharing stories.
We would like to share with you a follow up about how Jazz the poodle spent his new years. Beach living and a new fur brother? Sounds like great dog holiday care, right!
Jazz’s holiday care story
Debbie, Jazz’s owner heard about Share My Pet through the local grapevine. She contacted Share My Pet to find some holiday care for her poodle Jazz whilst she went down to Dunedin to receive chemotherapy treatment over the Christmas holidays.
As Christmas and New Years are busy times of the year, Debbie’s usual kennel was fully booked. During an already stressful time, knowing that your pet is safe and loved is extra important. Share My Pet and your pet sharing community was ready to help find dog holiday care for Jazz.
How easy was it to find Jazz a temporary holiday care over new years?
We received all the relevant information from Debbie, such as Jazz’s completed profile and dates of care needed. Then we sent an email out to all our members in the Otago region. Jazz though social with other dogs and people has a tenancy to chase cars. As such it was really important to his owner Debbie that Jazz would be with someone experienced caring for dogs. Living in an area with low traffic and cars was also an important factor.
Within 24 hours we had several replies of people offering their help.
Jazz’s beach side holiday retreat
A lovely lady called Gail, also a dog owner offered to have Jazz with her and her family at their family bach. Jazz spent 4 days by the sea, making friends with his new fur buddy Gypsy. Sniffing ,exploring and generally enjoying the extra love he was showered in. The location was perfect as there were no pesky cars to excite Jazz and plenty of space to frolic and explore.
During his holiday, Jazz became part of the family and upgraded himself onto the couch. Rumor has it he even managed to get himself snuggled into his host family’s bed. Lucky pupper!
Three months later….
Having recently spoken to both Debbie and Gail it was lovely to hear their positive stories of pet sharing. Sadly Gail lost her elderly companion Gypsy earlier this year. Gypsy the cocker spaniel was 15 and a half years old, a rescue from the Invercargill SPCA. She had been with Gail’s family as a beloved pet the last 3 years. Share My Pet would love to help connect Gail with a new part time fur buddy. While not quite ready to commit to full time pet ownership just yet, Gail and her family would love the company of a pooch for walks and snuggles. If you live in Invercargill and have a lovely dog that would love some extra companionship and care please contact us at help@sharemypet.co.nz
Jazz, based in Cromwell is also available to be shared for more regular walks and adventures. Please see the follow this link for Jazz’s profile. If you love the sound of Jazz please contact his owner via Share My Pet.
