Welcome to the dog friendly café directory. Love coffee and dogs? You’ve come to the right place! Many of us love to take our best furry friends along when we go out to enjoy a coffee or a meal. New Zealand is becoming more accommodating to canine visitors and dog friendly cafes are popping up all over the country. 

Share My Pet wants to celebrate this pet friendly movement. Therefore with the help of our community we have put together this dog friendly café and restaurant directory. Please remember as a dog owner its up to you to make sure your pet is kept on a leash and under control. Always pick up after your dog and ensure they are also comfortable and well hydrated.

Goldings Free Dive Has a dog-friendly outdoor area.

Spruce Goose Very popular with dog walkers, surfers and the general public. Fantastic location, best fish ‘n’ chips. Dogs welcome outside.

Beach Babylon Right along Oriental Parade and with space under cover that welcomes you and your fur baby- we adore this cafe! In 2019 Share My Pet held their “First Doggy Date event” at Beach Babylon and we were so impressed with the hip decor, seaside location and pupper friendly vibe! Beach Babylon has a special menu just for your canine companion to enjoy. They are offering all Canine Coffee Club members a free doggy biscuit with every human order for your canine buddy to enjoy.

Adelaide Trading Company Recommended by a local in Wellington who says this licensed delicatessen and café welcomes dogs and their owners inside the premises. Woof!!

Dunshea’s Deli in Khandallah has a small outdoor area of 4-5 tables that is great for socialble dogs and thier owners. Great food and coffee too.

Raglan Roast cafe, Te Aro on Herd Street , allows dogs inside the cafe providing a perfect spot to have a hot drink and tasty snack out of the Wellington wind with your fur baby. They provide water bowls and their staff are super dog friendly.

Chocolate Frog Cafe, Palmers Garden Center Miramar Wellington is dog friendly with undercover shelter.

Saveur Cafe boasts a beautiful location right in town alongside the river. Excellent spot for a drink or food either before or after a great walk with your best fur-friend. Very friendly café that welcomes dogs on their porch, provides fresh water for them and plenty of space for you to relax together.

Hello Sunday have a love for creating a connection within the community. Continuing in its rich history, Hello Sunday café strives to provide great food and coffee to nourish and ultimately bring people together. Dogs welcome outside.

Long Dog Café has an outstanding location right by the beach with excellent food and beverages. What could be better than a beach walk with your furry friend and then a nice hot drink or meal. This cafe is dog heaven. They even sell pupcakes for your pooch to enjoy! Dogs welcome outside.

Dog with Two Tails A great place with so much character. They have an undercover area for when the weather turns foul. Water bowls for your four-legged companion are available. The staff are super pupper-mad and are happy to give your pup a good scratch.

Joe’s Garage has locations across NZ; we visited the ones in Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown. Dogs welcome outside.

Perky’s Floating Bar You are welcome to bring your dog onto this amazing floating bar (permanently moored). You are allowed to bring your own snacks and nibbles on the condition that you buy drinks. Easily done!! We loved the views and the novelty of being on a boat with our hounds.

Ivy and Lola’s Excellent food including the dessert cocktails and desserts. Great views, outdoor heat lamps for when it gets chilly and dogs welcome. outside.

Hole in One Café

The Boat Shed Café & Bistro They are now under new management so, hopefully, they will keep their great reputation as being very dog-friendly. A great location to walk with your dog after a drink and snack along the lake. You could walk for many a happy hour in either direction with your dog alongside you, enjoying the views. Dogs welcome outside.

Kai Whakapai Café and Bar Hands down, one of our favourite cafés that we came across on our trip. Excellent location overlooking the lake, incredible food, super friendly staff. It’s a real hub for both locals and visitors. Dogs are very welcome outside and we saw plenty of happy patrons and their dogs enjoying their time at Kai’s. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit these guys!

The Eatery and Keg Room have been adored by pooches and people alike for years. New Zealand’s first pub to have an actual doggy menu, the selection of pupper delights available is pawsome! Furthermore, the Keg-Room also gets right onboard with hosting a doggy Xmas party and they often have Brunch Club meetups as organized by Furchildsupply.co (we think they are amazing!) Located in Rototuna’s shopping center they offer plenty of outdoor seating with shade in a relaxed and super dog friendly setting. The Kegroom is part of the Share My Pet Canine Coffee Club and offer 10% discounts on all hot drinks to premium members.

The Sugar Bowl Cafe– fresh contemporary cafe with a great busy vibe. Open seven days and fully licensed. The Sugar Bowl Cafe has recently joined the Canine Coffee Club and is offering visitors a discount on hot drinks. Woof!

The Kirk Cafe provides contemporary fresh NZ food,vegan,gluten free and dairy free options. Fresh local produce used where possible. Two Mile Bay Sailing Club Cafe: First Saturday of every month between 1-3pm we do dogs and grog. Bring your doggo down during that time and buy a Peroni or wine and get FREE PIZZA

This licensed cafe and bar sits right over the lake; in fact the cafe sits over the water itself with panoramic views across the lake. It’s a nice place to relax with a coffee, wood fired pizza or even a drink.

Lepperton Café: awesome café, GREAT food and coffees, lovely outdoor space, dogs very welcome on leads.
