Hi, I’m Kayleigh. I grew up with dogs, a springer spaniel and a golden retriever, when I moved out of home I missed having them around so much and I began dogsitting and walking through Pawshake. 10 years later, dogs are still a huge part of my life, but I’m still not ready to commit to adopting.
Spending so much time with my family dogs, as well as different dogs I’ve looked after over the years, I am knowledgeable in safe dog care, and breed-specific knowledge of a wide variety of breeds. I’m good at knowing and responding to their needs. My springer was terrified of other dogs after being attacked when she was young and so I’ve learned how to manage reactive behaviour like that, as well as dogs who don’t like cars or have various other behaviours/traits. I’ve also had to swim out to retrieve my retriever who turned her ears off when she started swimming after a seagull.. I’m a very attentive dog-carer and walker and love having their company.
I work from home Monday, Wednesday and Friday (only working half days at the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays) and I would love to have a dog to keep me company at home for the day, a dog that is both happy curled up with me, and who inspires me to get out of the house for either a couple of small around-the-block walks or a juicy beach or hills walk.
I’d be available some weekends or weeks to cover holiday care, do a big hike with them, or happy to have them just because I’m home for the weekend. There are no other pets, and no children, in my home. My back garden is a very steep hill and is not fully fenced (just dense bush at the bottom).
