I am enthusiastic about being a Carer with Share My Pet.
Caring for animals is a significant skill of mine and is an area in which I have a lot of experience. This is due to my having had a horse riding hobby for approximately 16 years, having grown up with family cats and dogs, and due to my having grown up on a semi-rural property which had sheep, horses and chickens on it.
My having attained my “H” Pony Club Certificate in horse mastership, Masters in Environmental Law and my Bachelor of Arts in Geography which contained an animal biology paper and a population and conservation biology paper and my having studied biology at high school show that I have a longstanding interest in the environment and consequently caring for animals, plants and the physical environment. I perform volunteer nursery work for Forest & Bird approximately once a fortnight. I also perform beach clean-up volunteer work for Sea Shepherd and for Our Seas Our Future from time to time.
Feeding, bathing, grooming, exercising and playing with animals are activities that I am good at. This is due to my having grown up with family cats and dogs and due to my earlier horse riding hobby. My enjoying being an active person who plays social tennis, jogs and who does yoga means that I have appropriate fitness for exercising animals. I rode in the 160km Round Lake Taupo bike ride three times in my twenties. My horse riding hobby of 16 years has given me great experience in training animals and an ability to develop training programmes. I would be very good at cleaning, inspecting and maintaining animal enclosures and/or habitats due to my earlier horse-riding hobby. I would be able to observe and record animal behaviour.
My excellent communication skills, which have been further developed during my eight years’ of national and international legal experience, contribute to my being able to build effective and enduring relationships. My teamwork and leadership skills have been enhanced by my VicRoads senior lawyer position, by my BUPA International and Eurostar London legal advisor experience, and through my high school deputy house captain, sports council member, and individual tennis team captain positions.
The principal reasons as to why I have decided to be a Carer with Share My Pet are because I am a positive, kind, patient, skilled, and aware person who is very experienced with animals. I am passionate about caring for animals and about providing them with a good quality of life. My appreciation of nature and ecology, which has been greatly developed by my involvement with animals and the environment described above, would be conducive to being a fantastic Carer with Share My Pet.
