Dougal is a gentle and cautious dog, slightly socially inept, but very loyal. He loves getting outdoors and will stay close, is great on leash.
Typical of his breed he is initially aloof with others, but soon warms to people and accepts pats. He has an innate wariness of young kids as they can hurt his skin if he has any tangles. Gentle non grabbing strokes are best.
I adopted him when he was 2 years old and have encouraged him to come out of his shell, and be more affectionate, which has been successful and is lovely to see.
