Name

Sika

Type of pet

Dog

Location

Christchurch, New Zealand

Sika (pronounced Seeker, like the White-Tail deer, as she is such an agile but dainty little gazelle) is a miniature Fox Terrier cross Parson Russell, she is almost 10 years old and lives with me and her two sons, Bruiser (3 years, black face, black collar) and Brick (1.5 years old, more golden hue, slightly fluffier and stockier- blue collar). All three are very social, friendly little dogs with both humans and other canines (big or small).

Apologies for the over lap, or gaps in some of my dog’s listings… and full compliment to Lili of @sharemypet who has literally taken my phone call and transcribed it here ?

Sika would maybe suit an active elderly person looking for dainty canine company on walks and outings. Due to a bad experience with younger kids in the past Sika prefers to hang out with children over the age of 10. Though that is not set in stone, as long as the children are gentle.

Recently lived on 10 acres of lifestyle block in Southland, so well  obsessed with rabbits and possums and feral cats. Definitely not to be taken to a cat house ?

She’s very strong on the recall, and imaginary boundaries. Stays close when off-leash.

Recently relocated to Christchurch and have been training with an ex-police dog handler to convert them into ‘city dogs’. They are well socialized and now walk well on a leash.

Very friendly and generally very well behaved. Only want to please. Lovely little characters – everyone comments on them.  Have strong key words. Neighbours in our new city environment are most complimentary on how they don’t react to the other ‘barky’ dogs in the area.

Sika is very gentile and mostly keeps the boys in line… though they can be a little boisterous at times.

All three dogs are professionally walked on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so ideally after someone who would like to take them city strolling on-leash mostly to help de-energise them! This is fully negotiable if you prefer an off-leash companion whilst running in the Red Zone, for example.

Prefer middle of day time, Monday and Wednesdays if possible. Located in Edgeware, not too far from Abberley Park. Happy for dogs to go out individually, in pairs or as a pack.

I take them for an off/leash run in Abberley Park most mornings around 7, and Red Zone most evenings.

As a now single ‘dog Mum’ – I’m really just after someone to provide interest and a little more variety to their day. Happy to do few joint walks together until everyone is settled in and comfortable with each other.

I’m very proud of the way all three dogs have adapted from country life to city. Am open to having a few (regular, or even irregular) walkers/carers as my priority is to provide my little rascals as much fun and entertainment and exercise I can!
I’m very conscious of the fact that they had an amazing life in the country, and I’m on a mission to ensure the city life is just as good for them, if not better!

All three dogs are filled with such personality and love, they adore tummy rubs and doggie massages on their back and pats. Open also to someone who may not want to walk them, but would just like to spend company time with them at my own house, whilst watching a movie on Netflix ?

The person who will spend time with my canines needs to be incredibly trustworthy as the dogs mean a lot to me. I’m sure this level of care and trust applies to everyone on this site though ?
Thank you
