Hi! Although we’re lucky to have family members who can often help with dog-sitting, we’re hoping to find a person, a couple or a family who would be interested in becoming a more consistent dog-sitter for us. We’re looking for someone the dogs can become familiar with and build a bond with over time. Before getting our own dogs, we longed for the company of dogs and would take every opportunity to walk dogs and dog-sit for our friends and family, so we fully understand the feeling of being a devoted dog-lover without having a dog of your own to love! This is exactly why we are seeking someone who would enjoy spending some time with our happy, playful dogs, Koda & Ellie, when we can’t.
We don’t need dog-sitting often, but when we do, it is usually only a couple of hours at a time (often evenings if we go out to dinner or head to the movies, but could also be during the day if we ever wanted to go for a day-trip somewhere). Koda & Ellie are used to being home alone a couple of hours during the day, but they are never really alone in the evenings, as this is usually the time of day that we spend lots of time with them, take them for walks, play-time etc. Our preference is for dog-sitting to take place at our home initially (in Richmond), as one of our dogs, Koda, tends to feel anxious when left alone in unfamiliar environments. However, over time as the dogs become more acquainted with you, the possibility of them staying at your home is certainly open! While we always make sure that the dogs have been exercised before we leave the house, you’re more than welcome to take them for a walk if you want (whether that be regularly or occasionally. Even if you ever feel like coming by to take them for a walk one day without dog-sitting, you are more than welcome to do so. I’m sure they would love it!)
As we get to know each other, I’d be willing to offer you my car while you care for the dogs so you can take them for a walk or adventure while we’re away. We live fairly close to some awesome off-lead dog walking areas! We simply want to find someone we can trust who enjoy spending time with the dogs as much as we do :)
Koda is a nearly 2-year-old chocolate tri-coloured Border Collie, and Ellie is an almost 18-month-old lilac-coloured Border Collie. They are both fully house-trained, friendly, well behaved off-leash and have a good recall. They absolutely love making new human friends, and activities such as off-leash walks, swimming, trick training, or playing with toys are their absolute favourites. After a walk they typically spend most of the day sleeping and enjoy staying close to their human friends. Once tired, they are generally both super cuddly and love snuggling up to you on the couch while you watch a movie, or work on your laptop, and will even join you for a nap, if you let them!
