Children and Dog Safety in New-Zealand

New-Zealand has one of the highest rates of dog ownership in the world. However, in the last ten years we have seen almost a 14% increase in dog bites to children in NZ. Furthermore children and dog safety is an extremely important topic. Below are useful links on organisations and educational courses available to help parents and kids learn safety around canines. Through education the aim is to help teach children how to stay safe around dogs.

Children and dog safety is crucial to Share My Pet and pet sharing.  Therefore we have complied this blog to outline some fantastic resources available. We are fortunate in New-Zealand to have many great organisations focused on children and dog safety. If you have children please take the time out to read up about some of the tips and precautions. You can teach your children on how to stay safe around dogs.

This is also important for our pet sharers who will be letting their furry family members join other families that have kids. Remember it is your responsibility as an adult to never leave your child or children in your care unsupervised around animals and pets.
